Wow! Time flies

Filed under: Family — mike @ 8:34 pm

Hi!

Wow its been a month since I last updated this.  Well Mia is a month older now, that makes her 4 1/2 months now.  She is attempting to sit up now too.  She can roll from back to tummy and tummy to back pretty much on both sides.  She likes to laugh and play and now has a Bumbo to sit in as well.  She seems to like that a lot.  She is eating more and more too.  She has gotten a little chubbier as well.  Ahh Baby rolls!   We might actually start some rice cereal really soon as when we eat and she watches, she seems to really be into what we are doing.  In fact she opens her mouth when we bring a spoon near her and acts like she want to eat off it.  Maybe she will really like food/eating and that will go smoothly.

Riley has been working on using the potty this past month.  That’s been fun, but he actually took to the #1 business in no time.  #2 took a little longer, but he has started to go in the potty as well.  Night time and naps still require a pull-up, but that was expected right now.  He’s also been going to pre-school.  Sometimes he makes a big deal about going to school and some days are not so bad.  Ahh 3 year olds.  They can drive you nuts at times.  Other then that he has been doing good with everything and he is learning a lot.  He can count to about 15 and can do the whole alphabet.  He does think that he knows everything, but we still get a ton of “why” or “whats that” questions.

Joanie and I celebrated our 6 year anniversary this past weekend.  Yes, 6 years married, but 12 years together.  Wow that’s a long time.  Other then that, we have been working and taking care of the kids.  That’s our life right now.

And now what you really want.  Some Photos!

The latest

Filed under: Family — mike @ 10:09 pm

Wow!  I’m really bad at this blog thing.  I’ll try to fill in everything thats going on.

The latest with Riley is…Potty Training.  Yes we have started it and #1’s are going pretty good.  It’s the #2’s that are not working out the best.  He seems to get the #1 business pretty good as tonight he actually went into the bathroom and went potty on his own.  For #2’s he retreats to his room and does his business in his pants still.  We’ll have to redirect him to the bathroom when we notice that he has gone to his room.  What can you do, going potty is hard stuff to nail down!  Riley has been going to preschool twice a week and is getting better about being dropped off there.  He used to have a good cry when I dropped him off, but the last few times he has been better about it.  Infact he has been crying a lot less lately.  He seemed to have a little regression and was crying at anything.  I guess he’s getting out of that stage because Mia is not crying as much as she used to.  Besides we kept telling him that she cry’s because she can’t talk and he can.

Mia has been growing, changing, learning and just being a baby.  We think she might be going through a growth spurt now as well.  She was crazy hungry today and seemed to sleep more then usual.  Her naps have become more predictable and she has had days where she has been up for 4-5 hours straight.  Of course she is very ready for a nap and goes down pretty easy.  Her bedtime has settled to be around 8pm and she is up by 7:30ish in the morning.  I can live with that.  She has started to not cry about everything.  She does more of an urgent kind of AHHHH AAHHHHH, when she wants our attention.  The only time that she cry’s is when we don’t respond to her calls in a timely fashion, well in what she considers a timely fashion.  Mia has been going over to Joanie’s parents house on the days she has to work.  Joanie’s mom says that Mia is a good girl and like to sit in her bouncy chair and talk up a storm.  Yes it looks like we will probably have two very talkative kids.  Can’t wait for when the go to school and we get the nice notes about how they will not stop talking in class.  Joanie was like that as a kid, so I guess they got that from her.  She is a fun little girl too, she loves to play and laugh.  Its so funny when she laughs.  I just love it when she gets a big toothless grin on her face and laughs.  Why can’t they stay this young forever….ohh yeah, you want then to be able to take care of themselves a little bit!

One crazy week

Filed under: Family — mike @ 11:57 am

Been a while since I have updated this and it’s been because I have been sick all week.  I’ve not been the only one sick either.  Joanie got pink eye and an outer ear canal infection as well.  Not bad for her first week back to work which turned into one day back because of her ailments. My illness was like what Riley had but three times as bad. His lasted about 12 hours and mine lasted for two plus days. Talk about fun!  I did loose about 10 lbs…like I needed to!  I’m just now getting back to eating most things.  I’ve been really cautious on what I will eat too.  I don’t want to regress on this.

All said, Mia has been healthy as a horse. She is the only one who has not had any ailments. She does her thing, eat, sleep, poop, be cute, babble. She seems to be starting to get ready to roll over and she reached for things that are put in front of her.  Her sleeping during the day has gotten better. In fact she has been asleep for almost 2 hours! Not to shabby! Her routine is really starting to fall into place and we can easily tell when she is getting tired and ready to go take a nap.  She has turned into an easier to handle baby and is happy 90% of the time that she is up.  She still hates to take a bath and get dressed/changed into new outfits.  I thought girls loved clothes? I would write more, but Riley is starting to play with his Popsicle mess and I would prefer to not have it get everywhere.

Popsicle for dessert..yum

Getting behind…

Filed under: Family — mike @ 9:10 am

Mia has been growing and changing over the weeks. Lately she is cooing and talking up a storm. Her schedule was really messed up at the end of the week due to her Uncle Nick’s wedding. She was pretty good most of the time though, so that was nice.

Wedding – Nick and Becca got married this past weekend! I have a bunch of pictures to post, but I will have to put them in our photo gallery instead of posting them here. There are some 80+ pics.

iPhone 3.0 – Updated both our iPhones this week when it came out. No issues with the update and I’m happy to say the cut/paste and landscape keyboard in more apps is a nice feature. Also the camera and the system just seem to be faster. I like updates that have no issues and actually make the product better.

Extras – Riley has been going to pre-school two days a week for 3 weeks now. He seems to be adjusting pretty well and likes it since he gets to play and learn and be outside a lot. Excellent!

And now some pics:

What we did this week

Filed under: Family — mike @ 12:34 pm

This week was a pretty busy one. We all went to the Oakland Zoo on Monday, Riley started a new pre-school on Wednesday, we had dinner with Joanie’s parents on Thursday. Riley had his second day of his new pre-school today and we will surprise him later tonight by taking him to Elmo’s Green Thumb, a live theatrical performance with the Sesame Street Gang I guess. Sorry if this post is a little out of whack, the editor page for these posts has not been working like it should, I’m looking into the issue.
